Jazzing up Ramen Noodle Soup: Oriental Flavor

Have you ever thought to yourself "I wish these Ramen Noodles were more yummy!" well I have! lol so I decided to do something about it. On hand I had 5 packages of Ramen Noodles in various flavors, so I thought up two ideas this one and another that I will post in a few weeks.

Note: This is not a recipe so much as it is just me writing about trial in error in creating a recipe, this was try one and if definitely needs to be tweaked and tried again.

I didn't want soup so when I made this, I drained the water. So it was more like pasta. I wanted to jazz up the flavor a bit and add some vegetables, to create a completely different meal.

You will need everything in the picture. 1 package oriental flavored Ramen Noddle Soup, frozen stir fry vegetables, and soy sauce.
Step 1:
Cook the noodles according to the package but don't add the seasoning

Step 2:
Cook the vegetables according to the package.

Step 3:
Drain the Noodles.

Step 4:
Add the vegetables, seasoning, and desired amount of soy-sauce.

Step 5:
Mix and Enjoy

I was hoping for a lo mien style noodle here. Obviously this is a work in progress. Here is what I observed with this experimental meal.
  1. It was MUCH too salty and I think that next time I will add 1/2 the seasoning packet, as I know the saltiness did not come from my low sodium soy sauce
  2. I thought it needed sugar because lo mien is kinda of sweet, I think that next time I will also add sugar
  3. Other than that it was pretty good, very flavorful and the veggies really were a nice touch

  1. Next time try leaving out the flavoring packet altogether and add some canned chicken to the mix instead (i would also vote for more yellow/red bell peppers, will help with sweetness).

Then heat up some peanut oil (or canola if you wanna be cheap) in a pan or wok and fry the mix up until it starts to brown and firm up a bit. It'll blow you away, trust me lol, no better way of preparing ramen than fried ramen.
