Quick Reviews on 4 Not so Great Frozen/Boxed Foods

I have been getting tired of eating the same old things over and over again so I was on the hunt to find a few new quick and easy foods to make Anthony and I (this was before I decided to take the 18 week challenge). I bought quite a bit and tasted a few of them all ready, guess Anthony will have to try the rest by himself lol. Anyways here is what I thought of the ones I did try.

1. Frozen Asian Meal - I can not find a pic of this so at this time I do not know the name but it was a frozen Lo Mein with veggies and chicken. This meal was not good. The sauce tasted weird, I think it needed to be sweeter, and the chicken was soggy. Anthony did not like it either, he ate what I put on his plate but he said it tasted weird. I ate what was on my plate too but the leftovers made it to the trash. Not something either of us want to eat again and we will not be buying it again ever.
Bottom Line - I would give it a 3 out of 10

2.  Velveeta Shells and Cheese with Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies -
This was ok. The macaroni and cheese itself was good. I liked how it only needed water to cook the pasta, and did not need butter or milk to cook it (because sometimes I run out at the last minute). It is not my favorite but I would say it is my 2nd favorite. As for the diced tomatoes and chiles... the concept was good and it did taste good BUT it was simply canned diced tomatoes and chiles in a little packet. There was nothing special about it. I could have popped open a can of diced tomatoes and green chiles and put it in a normal box of Velveeta and gotten the same (if not better) results. In my opinion they should have provided more tomatoes and chilies, as there really was not that much in there.
Bottom Line: This was ok I would give it a 6 out of 10
It was good but nothing to rave about. I will not be buying it again but I may buy normal Velveeta or other varieties if they have them.

3.  Del Monte French Style Green Beans with Onions, Red Pepper, and Garlic -
This tasted like normal green beans with a little garlic added to it. Nothing special. Every now and then you get a red pepper but really, this was a waste of money in my opinion I will not be buying this again. It just taste too close to normal green beans and cost more.
Bottom Line: I give this a 4 out of 10

4. Stouffer's Cordon Bleu Pasta -
OK what to say about this?! This took almost 2 hours to cook! Very inconvenient if you ask me. It was just ok tasting too. The chicken tasted odd and it was chewy. The ham was chewy too. The pasta and Swiss sauce were okay though and the bread crumbs added a nice touch. Anthony did not care for it and made a very good point, that I could make the same thing from scratch and it would probably taste a million times better. He's right. It is just pasta, white sauce, Swiss cheese, cut up ham and chicken, and peas. It would not cost that much to make at all. I will not be buying this again either.
Bottom Line: I give this a 5 out of 10

Guess all of these turned out bad! I have about 4 or 5 more things that Anthony is going to be trying himself (because my diet). I really hope he likes those better than he liked these! I feel bad for buying him bad stuff, poor guy lol.

The Challenge

My bloggy friend Karen over at adiposediet.com is holding a challenge check it out here. I have decided that it would fun to jump on board and do this challenge.

Everyone gets to pick their own goal to meet by February 4th. I have been thinking on this for the past few days and came up with a goal.

My goal is to develop a diet plan and stick to it 100% all the time. By this I mean eating the same thing in the same portions everyday. (more or less because I will be tweaking the menu weekly depending on what produce is on sale.) I would love to lose 9 lbs while doing this but that is not the ultimate goal. This is about self control. I want to prove to myself that I can maintain self control and that when I set out to do something I CAN do it. I am aiming to grow as an individual and become a more driven and stronger person.

This is important to me.

I am also hoping that this will help with my many gastric issues, and I will be tracking them as well.

Now for what I plan to eat, here is the menu (more or less).

Lunch:
12 oz Gatorade
1 Salad. My salads will consist of 1 cup of lettuce, 1 cup of spinach, 1/4 of a tomato, 1 TB bell pepper, 1 TB red onion, 1 piece of fat free turkey, 2 TB of low fat dressing. I will also be adding in a few extras each week that will change weekly. This salad will total about 115 calories.
1 Fresh Fruit (whatever is on sale)

Dinner:
12 oz Gatorade
1 Salad
1 Cup of white rice with 1 TB of low sodium soy sauce
1 Fresh Fruit (whatever is on sale)

So the total calories per day will be around 600 on days that I am working late into the night I will allow 1 cup of coffee (because I will not survive without it). I will also be taking calcium supplements because I plan or eliminate dairy from my diet completely.

And there you have it! I plan to start on October 1st. I know I can do this. And I WILL do this! I am extremely determined.

"You're feeding him too much."

The other day Anthony and I ran into my uncle at Publix. We chatted for a few minutes and went about our ways. The next day at work (my uncle works at the same place as I do) my uncle came up to me and started making small talk about the sub we had bought the night before at Publix and we got to talking about Anthony and he said to me "You're feeding him too much.".... implying that he was getting fat and it was my fault.

I got to thinking about this. Yes he is right Anthony is gaining weight, I do not know if it is at a steady rate or if he has just gained some weight here and there because we do not have a scale. I can see it in the pictures though that he is gaining weight and has been continually since Bear was born. Is he fat? No. He is normal sized. Could he become fat? Sure. Am I going to try and prevent that from happening? Absolutely not.

I do not want him to be fat, but I honestly feel that it is wrong to try and control what he eats or how much of it he eats. He is a grown man and he should be able to make those decisions himself. If he chooses to eat three helpings of food, he will suffer the consequences. People should be able to eat what they want when they want to, who am I to tell him he can't have more if he is still hungry? It's just not right. And it is not like he is eating 10 times a day or insane amounts or anything like that either. We eat 1 time a day. That's it, just once.

If someone tried to control what I ate or how much of it I ate... it would upset me. Especially if that person was Anthony because I want him to accept me the way I am. I do not want him to see that I am gaining weight and try to stop it, that would honestly hurt my feelings (even though I know he would be doing it for both of our best interests), it would still upset me a lot.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it wrong to control what your spouse eats and how much of it they have to eat? Or do you think that when it's for the better it's ok?

Diet Update

The drinking has been going well actually... to my surprise. Turns out Gatorade is working out with me and I don't have any issues drinking it. Some days my stomach is upset so I do not drink any or much at all but most days I drink at least 12 oz and that is very good compared to the 3-6 I used to drink.

I am now eating only a light lunch, this is because I want to avoid my stomach getting upset at work (it tends to do that a lot). My lunch well... snack really, is either a fruit roll-up, a granola bar, some crackers or a combinations of two of those.

I have been eating around 500-800 calories for dinner each day so depending on the day I have been eating about 800-1100 calories a day.

Yesterday I felt like my pants were really lose so I weighed myself at Publix and turns out I did not lose weight at all, I am still at 120 lbs. I just can't seem to get rid of these last 9 lbs. I know if I exercise that will more than likely do the trick, but honestly I don't have it in me. I don't have the time nor do I have the energy. I know that is a pathetic excuse, but I honestly do.not.have.it.in.me. Right now. Maybe in the future I will get back to walking a ton.

Since I have been drinking so much Gatorade, Anthony and I have been sampling all the flavors. Some of them have been good, others.... not so much.

We tried:

Cool Blue - this one was good

Citrus Cooler - this one was ok, it tasted like grapefruit to me and I am not a fan of grapefruit really. Anthony did like it though.

Melon- Neither of us like this one, I think it was supposed to be cantaloupe flavor, either way I am not buying it again.

Lime Cucumber - this one was not so good. It really tasted like cucumber. I do not like lime or cucumber though so maybe if you like them you would like this drink.

Tropical Mango - This tasted like mango. It was pretty spot on. I thought it was all right but nothing to rave about. Anthony liked it.

We also tried a white one, I can not find the name of it, I only got one sip because Anthony downed 99% of the thing before I had the chance to taste it, but from what I tasted it was bad... much too sweet. And he said he didn't like it either.

I think that we are going to stick to the normal classic flavors, from now on the red, orange, yellow, and light blue are our favorites.

Baby's First Foods Part 2

Round two! :]

Peaches - Loved em'! He also started opening his mouth really big and saying "AHHHH!" when he is ready for another bite. It is the cutest thing! You can see him doing it in the pic. He also comes up to use when we are eating and he will open his mouth real wide and scream "AHHH!" at the top of his lungs because he wants out food!

Sweet Potatoes - No complains at all, ate them all up like he's been eating them his whole life.

Baby Biscuits- This was the first time we gave him SOLID food. I do admit I was realllllllly scared he would choke. But he absolutely loved this! He ate it all up and was very entertained for about 30 minutes. At one point I kinda thought he was choking because he was making odd noises, but turns out it was because he had a bunch of it stuck on the roof of his mount. We feed him these biscuits all the time now.

1st Time with a Sippy - At first he didn't really know what to do with it. I had to show him that it had water in there. Then he took it but not really well. He would suck like one sip and then just want to chew on the nipple. The flow on that particular cup is too fast for him too and he coughed when he drank from it cuz too much water came out. I have since bought him different cups and they seem to do better but he still has not quiet got the hang of using the cup, I still have to stick it in his mouth and hold it for him to drink the water. And he does like water!

Apple Sauce - Loves applesauce! I figured he would because he likes rice cereal mixed with apple juice too.

Peas - He did eat peas and he did like them but he was not nearly as crazy about them as the other foods we gave him. I think he thinks they are "meh" lol

I Seriously Love Zulily.

I think I am officially in love with and addicted to Zulily.com! :]
This is great for my house (that really needs to be decorated). And horrible for my wallet lol.
Not but four days after ordering a bunch of stuff from them I went back and got more.

Here is what I got the 2nd go around!

This 26 pocket organizer that hangs on the back of a door for just $18. I saw this and HAD to have it for organizing all the random things I have for Etsy like tape, ribbon, baggies etc. I am still in the process of organizing all my Etsy stuff, but this should help out a BUNCH, as we lose the small things all time.

This super cute owl placement to put outside my front door for just $15. I plan to do my whole kitchen and dining room in this theme as soon as Zulily brings the sale back that has all the matching stuff. I REALLY hope they bring it all back and do it soon. I am so exited :]

I bought this set of three waterproof bibs for Bear for $12. I got tired of all of his bibs getting ruined and stained and looking ugly so I thought these wipe away waterproof ones may solve that issue.

I know three waterproof bibs are enough but I just HAD to buy these too because I really wanted the panda one! :] These were $10. It is very hard to find boys stuff with pandas on it mostly all the panda stuff is for girls, so when I find boy panda stuff I tend to jump on it.

It's safe to say this is on of my top 5 favorite website now. I get on it everyday at 9:30 AM to see the new sales. I am addicted. It's official.

I Didn't Sell it on eBay

Remember how I said I was trying to sell a bunch of clothes on eBay so I can buy new clothes? Well turns out no one wants my clothes :'[

I listed 26 things and only 9 of them sold. And I was hoping to make at least $50 from those 26 things but at the end of the day I only made $12 and some change. SIGH.

I hope I have better luck with the other things I plan to list, I think I will. People tend to buy lots of baby stuff on eBay, and electronics too.

I may just have to end up saving up for my wardrobe. Or buying it very slowly like just a few pieces at a time rather than a large amount all at once and then slowly adding to it.

8.5 Months Old!

Bear is now 8 and a half months old! :]

Only new thing since the last update is we changed his feeding schedule. We are now giving him 8 oz every 3-4 hours and I am feeding him two jars of baby food for dinner at around 5:30 PM everyday. One weekends I also give him 1 jar plus a serving of rice cereal for lunch.

Now for some pics :]
 Getting into his laundry
We found that attaching a lovie to his binky helps us lose it A LOT less.
 Changing a tire
His first ever real bubble bath :]
 Standing in his toy bucket
 Bear and daddy <3

I Love Zulily

I scored some super stuff yesterday from Zulily.com :]

Check out what I got.

These super cute curtains for my living room for just $38. We currently have a sheet hanging in the window lol.

Cute shoes for Seth for just $7. I was shooting in the dark on this one because I have no idea what his size is but I figured if they are too big he will grow into them and if they are too small, I will just keep them for Bear. Either way it's a win. :]

This set of two Knot Genie de-tangling brushes for $14. They are supposedly really awesome and detangle the worst knots and work on the curliest hair. Do I think they will work? Who knows. But I needed a brush and these looked good.

I started my new wardrobe with this plush robe for just $18. I am cold ALL THE TIME! And a lot of times my jackets are at work, or dirty so I figured I would get this hopping to solve the issue.

And last but not least, I got these funk-a-licios slipper sock things for $13. lol I often find myself with cold feed but I do not like walking around in my socks because they get dirty. I think this will be a great solution.
I can't wait for it all to arrive! The bad thing about Zulily... it takes 10-14 days for the stuff to even leave the warehouse. So I won't have any of this until 3 weeks from now. I suppose one day when it finally does come it will be a nice treat :]

Call Me Crazy...

But I actually want more kids. 3 More to be exact. Yes you read that right, I want to have a total of 5 kids. It has always been my dream to have a large family and I feel so deeply that I want my kids to have a large loving family to grow up with as well. I want my home to be filled with constant laughter and always have family in and out and have tons of love just exploding from everyone. I know this may be unrealistic, but hey! I can try and make it happen! :]

Anthony... he's not really for the idea. He's gonna need some convincing lol but hopefully he jumps on board cuz this really is one of my life goals and dreams.

Ideally I would like to have another child in summer 2015 when I am 23. I want that child to be a boy and I would name him Taz. I know I already have 2 boys but I want my kids to be able to be close and bond and have fun together. And since Bear and Seth with be close in age to that child I think it would be great for them to have another brother to play with.

Then I want to take a break for 7 years and when I am 30, I would like to have another child. This one being a girl. I would name her Wren. I REALLY want a daughter! This just ticked in me a few days ago, I was just in the car riding to work and I thought to myself, "OMG, I really want a daughter!" I want someone that I can be close to and I want a friend I know many people's best friends are their mothers, and I really want that.

I would like to have my last child at the age of 33 and I would want that child to be a girl as well, so my daughter could have a playmate and someone to be close with all the time. I have no clue what I would name her.

So in a perfect world... When I am 33 (12.5 years from now) I would like to have 5 kids. 3 boys and 2 girls. And at 33 they would be ages: Newborn, 3, 10, 13 and 17.

We shall just have to wait and see if this all plays out. Who knows, maybe I will still be blogging 12 and a half years from now and I can do a post about it ha.

We Reached 100 Sales on Etsy!!

Yesterday Anthony and I got our 100th sale! Woot! Our sales have slowed down a lot this month, I am not really sure why that is but we are not all that disappointed as we happen to be super busy with the court and custody stuff going on right now anyways.

I am so thrilled that we reached 100 sales though it feels like a huge victory and to have reached it this soon, blows my mind. Our shop has only been open for 4 months! I just LOVE making crayons and coming up new ideas!
I really want to launch my Halloween line that I have been working on, but I can not at this time because it is too rainy, and I take all my pics outside :[ Serious bummer. It has been raining EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for about 3 weeks now here in Florida. There are few days where it does not rain but even on those days it has been very cloudy and the pictures that I have taken, have come out much too dark. So for now, we are sitting on it and hopping the rain will go away and the sun will come out, but there may be no Halloween line this year.

Now about our 100th sale!

It was for a 24 pack of these marbled star crayons.

We will be writing them a special note and giving them a free gift.
In the note to the seller it stated that these are going to be given out to students in the customers daughter's classroom as fun gifts.
I really hope they all enjoy them!

I Choose to be ME!

I have been doing a lot of looking at what is out there in the way of clothes and fashion since I am planning on re-doing my whole wardrobe over the next year. I have come to the conclusion that I have an odd style. One that most people would call "kidish". I am attracted to bright colors and matching things. Essentially I like to dress like a 12 year old.

Why you may ask? I haven't the slightest clue. It is just what I like. My favorite stores to buy clothes and accessories from are Aeropostale, Claire's, Justice, and Hot Topic. I do not want to look like a child I just want to look like me.

I go though the clothes that is intended for people my age, and I find them very distasteful. I just HATE it all! There are those times when I find something I do like but that does not happen very often.

I do understand that if I wear clothes intended for people that are between the ages of 12 and 16 it will make me look younger and less responsible and I won't be taken as serious as I should be. People will not see me as the grown adult that I am. This is not something that I want and I have considered wearing clothes that I do not like just so people can give me the respect that I deserve, and stop treating me like "some kid". But ultimately I decided I want to be ME. I don't care if that means people think I am a kid, I downright refuse to act or dress like someone that I am not.

I am 21. I know I am still young but I do feel like with the amount I take on everyday and the fact that I work a full time job, have 2 kids, pay bills, and support 3 people, I do deserve a little more respect than to be called a kid or even a teen. I am an adult. I am me. And I just so happen to like the same style clothing that kids and teens wear.

I have decided that I will buy what I like. I will wear what I like, and anyone who has an issue with it.... well that's their issue not mine. Life is just too short. I feel that it is about the way you act not the way you look, I act like an adult therefor I am an adult. Just because I look like I'm 16 does NOT mean I am 16. (This is the age most people guess that I am).

I choose to be ME and no one else and I am going to wear what I like because I like it!

Selling the Old to Buy the New

I have decided it is time to buy new clothes for myself. I have been holding off on this for a long long time. Partly because I gained 10 lbs with my pregnancy and was hoping to lose it before I bought new clothes and partly because I am really bad about not buying stuff for myself - it makes me feel guilty like I should have used the money for Bear or Anthony. But they have everything they need and I don't think I am going to lose this last 10 lbs anytime soon. So here goes!

I do not have lots of money to spend, so to justify it and to make myself feel a little better, I am selling a bunch of stuff on eBay then I plan to use that money to buy new stuff :]

Right now I have 26 items listed and I plan to list more next week. I don't want to sell too many things at once because that will be a lot to handle when it comes time to ship them all out. I currently have listed a bunch of my old clothes that is too small and in great condition. Next week I am going to be listing random things I do not need like some baby things as well as jewelry and maybe some electronics too.

I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to save up at least $200 toward a new wardrobe. I know that is not a lot when you are buying clothes, but I am a serious bargain hunter! and I plan to start with a little and add to it every month. Once I buy new stuff to wear I then want to sell what I have in my closet that still fits (the stuff that I didn't list on eBay because I still need clothes to wear in the meantime), because I am tired of wearing the same things all the time, some of my clothes are literally still hanging around from when I was in high school! 8 years ago!!! After I sell what's in my closet I then want to add to what I bought. Seems like a great plan! I really hope it works! I currently only have one pair of work pants that I have to wear to work 4 times a week and then I have 4 pairs of jeans but I can only wear jeans on Friday. I have about 10 tops and I have been wearing the same 10 for over 2 years now. So I am PRETTY tired of them! lol And my jacket... well lets just say I have been wearing the same one for four years now and it has 3 giant fraying holes in it, but I still wear it because I could not bring myself to buy a new one.

Anyways, here's to hoping I can re-do my whole wardrobe, not dent my wallet, and not feel bad about it either! I will do a follow up post about the stuff I sell on eBay and the new clothes I buy :]

Have a great Monday!

Baby's First Foods Part 1

Bear has really started to LOVE food! At first he had a few problems with spitting it out and then he had issues with not knowing when to open his mouth but now he's a pro! He sees us eating and knows we have food and will scream and cry unless we give him some too, of coarse he can't eat what we have so we give him some of his food. Here are the very first foods we tried with him in order:

Rice Cereal mixed with apple sauce. This is one of the only "face making" foods I tried so far! This boy does not seem to make faces when he eats! He just loves it all and eats it all :] Despite the face, he does like this and loves to eat it. He does not like rice cereal with water though I think it is too bland for him.

Vanilla Yogurt. I was eating this and he started screaming cuz he wanted some, he LOVED it! and he screamed every time I didn't give him more.

Carrots. The first veggie he tried. Loved it as well. Ate it all up with zero complaints.

Bananas! He loved those too!

Squash. All smiles!

Oatmeal Cereal. This is the first thing that we tried that he just does not like. I tried it mixed with applesauce and he kinda ate it but was not really interested at all and kept crying after every other bite. We have tried this two times now, I may try it again a few more times to see if he has changed his mind, I read on Gerber's site it could take up to 10 tries to get a baby to accept a new food.

Friday's Letters

Link up!

Photobucket Dear Bear, I am having so much fun with you these days! Trying new foods, playing with toys, and just watching you grow. You truly are the light of my life, you keep me going everyday. I do it all for you. Dear Anthony, I feel that our relationship is growing everyday. I love spending time with you, even if we only get about 45 minutes together a day. I really cherish those moments. I really wish you would flip you sleep cycle so we could hang out on the weekend more, rather than you sleeping all day :[ Dear Etsy, you are working me to death! But you are so worth it! Keep it coming! Dear dude who decided to make a Dunkin' Donuts in the city I live in, I want to thank you and scream at you at the same time! I am officially addicted to that place and I love it but my wallet and diet are suffering lol! Dear Florida, I know it is PLEASE stop raining! I need to take pictures of new products to list on Etsy! And you better not bring on any erratic cold weather anytime soon! Dear Seth, I am very scared to start visitation with you. But at the same time I am very exited. I can not wait to see what an amazing little boy you have grown into.

Bear Update! (22-35 Weeks Old!)

22-35 Weeks! 6-8 Months old!
So here is the big update on Bear from the time that I was away from my blog.
This little guy has grown so much! He is now about 18 lbs. Wears a size 3 diaper, and size 3-6 months clothes. He also fits in some size 6-9 months clothes. He still is wearing a size 1 shoe.
Developmentally he has developed A LOT! He is now saying Mama, Baba, Dada, and Nana. He does not yet know what they mean but he is saying them all the time. He is now attached me Anthony and I and recognizes that we are his mom and dad. He prefers us over anyone else. He gets the concept of when something is hiding, it is not gone, and he looks around for it. He loves toys especially ones that make noise and light up. And the boy also loves him some cartoons! I mean seriously I have never seen a baby that was so interested in cartoons before. He cries for us to turn on the TV when it is off.
Physically he has developed a lot as well! At around 7 months he became very mobile he scoots everywhere! All the time! He even follows me around the house it is just the cutest thing! He started to sit unaided at 7.5 months and then pulled to his knees a few days later! Not but a few days after that he started to pull to a stand. He is wobbley still with his pulling to a stand and he is falling a lot but he is getting better and better! He still has not figured out how to walk in his walker.
He found his feet and grabs them all the time now.
His personality has really started to show now too! He is happy a lot and smiles at everything! He does get clingy sometimes but for the most part he loves everyone and smiles with everyone. He is just the sweetest thing!
He now is grabbing everything all the time. He does not give up easily like he used to, now if he wants something and we take it he will scream for us to give it back. He always wants what mommy and daddy has.
I think he is starting to look more and more like his daddy everyday. Some people agree and others say he looks just like me. Who knows? lol
He is eating 6 oz of formula every 2-4 hours and we are feeding him 2 jars of baby food a day. When Anthony and I have dinner we are putting him in his highchair and giving him a snack of finger-foods that he can feed himself. At this time we have only given him Gerber Biter Biscuits but we are going to try some other finger foods later this week (I am super exited!). We do this because every time he sees us eating he screams for our food, even if he just ate. The boy loves him some food!
He is now sleeping though the night and no longer uses a swaddle! He knows how to put his binky in his mouth now so if he does wake up in the night he can put it back in himself, unless he lost it, then we have to come look for it lol.
Health is all good! He does have a rash all over his knees that he has for almost 2-3 months now. He had it last time at the doctors visit and she said it was a common rash. I do plan to ask her about it again when we go there for his next round of shots at 9 months. But all in all, my sweet boy is doing great!
