18 Weeks!

Bear is 18 weeks old today! (Yesterday's post was super late). So here is a quick update on Bear.
Development: He is getting SO good at eye hand coordination! He can grab things really well now and is working on putting them in his mouth. And now that he knows how to do that is is putting his fists in his mouth less. He is actively trying to sit up too! He keeps pulling his whole body forward when laying back in an attempt to sit up. We can also no longer leave him on the mat and expect him to stay there! He has started scooting and turning and can now move himself off the mat (when he is on his belly). He also started sleeping in his crib three days ago on May the 6th!
Sleep: Now that Bear is sleeping in his room in his crib he sleep is touch and go. The first night he did really well and slept almost the whole night he woke only one time for a binky and went back to sleep. The second night he woke a few times I think two and then slept in til 9 AM! But last night he did pretty lousy. He woke up several times and at 5:30 AM he was inconsolable, didn't want anything but to lay there and cry. So we are working on it a little at a time. He has also started going to bed at 6-6:30 rather than 7-7:30 we had to change it because it seems like he gets cranky everyday around that time and the only way to calm him down is to put him to bed. This has not effected the time he wakes up all that much. Sometimes he will wake at 3 AM for a bottle now instead of 4 AM but he is still waking at about 8 to 8:30 to start the day.
Growth: Bear is now 14 lbs and 12 oz and is in the 49th percentile. I can't think of his length off the top of my head right now. But the doctor did say he was "short".
Eating: He is still eating the same amount, 5 oz every 2-3 hours. Yesterday we gave him two spoons of apple sauce, that was the first time he EVER ate a solid. He actually liked it and his spitting out reflex is not that bad. I think by 6 months he will prolly be ready to start rice cereal.
How I am adjusting: I am trying to spend more one on one time with Bear. I spend most the day at work and when I come home I have to cook dinner and clean up and Bear goes to sleep really early so it does not leave much time for us to spend together maybe 30 min.? On the weekends while Anthony sleeps (because he sleeps in the day time instead of at night) I have started taking Bear for walks just me and him. It is nice to go out just the two of us. We also play on the mat and take baths and watch movies together. It does sadden me that we can only do this 2 days out of 7 though. I hope this can be a more frequent thing.

17 Weeks!

17 weeks!!!!!????!!!! Yep my baby is 4 months old! I can hardly believe it. He is no longer a newborn! He is now at the age where babies start to explore more and get more mobile. Oh boy. lol I am oh so exited though I have to admit.
Developments: Bear can now grab things! He is not very good at it but he is getting better. He has grabbed the little puppy toy hanging from his car seat and he can also grab large toys that are sat in his lap. He also is working on putting these things into his mouth! He has way better neck control now and can hold his neck up for about 5-10 minutes before getting tired. He is still working on rolling over but he can all ready roll over from his tummy to his back but is not quite to the stage of rolling from his back to his tummy, but he is close! He is laughing a lot more now too! And talking more also. He is still trying to work on holding his own bottle but is still shaky in that area. He is also really getting into putting things in his mouth. He has his fists in his mouth 24/7 now, but we think this may be because he has sore gums from teething. He is starting to arch his back and wiggle around so we now have to make very sure that he is always fastened in where ever his is.
Places he went this week: This week Bear went to another festival this one was kinda lame it was called Education in the Park. But it was fun and we got some cute pics. He also went to McDonalds and dinned in for the first time.
New People he met: This week Bear met his great-grandmother and great-grandfather for the first time! They came down and visited from Puerto Rico just to see him. He also met a great uncle that he never met before.
Growth: Bear is now 14lbs and 10oz! I am starting to think he is weighing on the more heavy side of the percentile chart! Because I know at one year babies are typically about 20lbs. And he is well over half way there and not even 6 months old! He is still in size 0-3 months but we found out this weekend that he also fits into some size 3-6 months tops all though the pants are still big. He is still in size 2 diapers.
Sleep: His sleep is getting a little better he is going back to only waking at 4:30 for a bottle but some nights he is still waking at around 1 AM. We now think that this may be due to the teething. We started swadling him in the daytime when he is really cranky and just won't go down for a nap. This is something we never did before but he is starting to fight his naps more and more now.
Health: His health seems great. According to the doctor he is very healthy. We take him for his 4 month shots and a physical next week.
How we are adjusting: The crying non-stop that has come with the teething has been hard on us but we are getting through it one day at a time. It can be frustrating having him cry and not being able to console him or calm him down, but at the end of the day seeing his smile makes all the frustration melt away as if he was just a happy little baby all day.

16 Weeks!

Quick post for 16 weeks!

This week Bear has been Mr. Cranky Pants! We are pretty sure he is teething but we are not 100 % sure that is the case. He has no fever and we can not see any signs of him cutting teeth but he seems to be gnawing on his hands 24/7. He is crying non-stop and is only happy for a few hours of the day. We took him to the doctor and they told us they were not sure what was causing it but that he seemed fine so we should not worry. It just breaks my heart seeing him so upset all the time and not being able to calm him down. I am behind on my posts as he will be 17 weeks tomorrow so I will post all other updates on that one :]

Here is a cute pic of Bear at 16 weeks.
