When he was born he had a mild case of jaundice and a newborn rash.
At this appointment the doctor said his rash was much better but his jaundice was worst. She ordered us to take him to the hospital for a blood test to determine what the next move should be. We later got a call saying he was fine and that we needed to take no action.
He was still 18 inches (3rd percentile) and his weight went down to 5 lbs 14 oz. His birth weight (6 lbs 1 oz) was the 5th percentile. His head was 13.5 inches and in the 10th percentile. She described him as "petite".
(They were both so tired lol)
He also got his Hep B Vac at this appointment. We decided to skip it in the hospital just because there was so much going on and all ready being done, way too much poking and prodding was going on and we didn't want to add to it. He cried when he got the shot but was all better and happy again a few minutes later. He didn't get grumpy or cranky from it later on either.
How is your little man now? I hope that Panda Bear will get well soon. Infant jaundice is common among newborn infants. It is because the baby’s liver isn’t mature enough to get rid of bilirubin in the bloodstream. Mild infant jaundice often disappears on its own within two to three weeks. But beyond that, you must ask your pediatrician for the best treatment.

Hi Logan,
DeleteHe is better now! The jaundice went away when he was about 2 weeks old. He will 2 months old in just a few days.

Its been months now, Rose, and I assume that baby's getting the appropriate pedia care. This is the stage wherein his body is susceptible to various illnesses and viruses. It's best to work hand in hand with your pedia in taking care of him. How are you now? :)
