It's Moving Day!

Well it's finally here the day we move into my apartment and officially start our life as a family of three. I am very exited and nervous at the same time. I just really hope that everything goes well.

You can expect for me to go back to my regular one blog post a day in a few days once we have settled in.

Baby's First Handmade Gift

Back when I was pregnant Bear received his first handmade gift from him grandmother (on his father's side). It was a cute set of embroidered burp cloths. They also had hand stitched trim on the edges.
Yes we tend to want everything panda bear themed :]
I just love handmade gifts.
A close up of the trimming.
The trimming on this one was more fancy than the others. Unfortunately the little bow came off in the wash :[
This was because daddy is a security guard lol so kinda a fake cop.

He has since received more handmade gifts, a whole knitted outfit complete with shoes and a hat from his great grandmother, as well as more burp cloths, a few blankets, and a crocheted blanket from yarn. His grandmother also made him a panda themed hand stitched blanket as well (not really sure what you would call it).

Choosing the Name "Bear"

Bear is not your average baby name. When we tell people our son's name we get mixed reactions. Some like it, some love it, some hate it, some say we are immature. A few even tried to talk us out of it. A lot of you may be wondering just how we decided on this particular name.

Let me first of start by saying, it has not a thing to do with the fact that we call our selves bears for fun. I came up with a list of about 40 names and presented them to Anthony, he did not like a SINGLE one! He also refused to come up with a name that he did like, so it was up to me to come up with something that he also liked.

The name we were thinking about using before we picked Bear was "Mykah" I tried and tried and tried some more to get Anthony to say okay to this name but every time it was a no go. At first he said it was a girl's name, and then he went on to say it was much too "white" lol. So I scratched that idea and went back to the drawing board.

We call Bear panda a lot, and Anthony has suggested naming him Panda before. At first I thought he was joking but it soon became clear to me that he was not. One day we were in the car, he was driving me to the train station to go back home after spending the weekend together and he said that we should just name him Panda for real. I then suggested Bear, I was only half way serious when I suggested this. I thought he would never go for it. But to my surprise he actually said yes! He said he liked it and it sounded "manly" lol. And then it was decided.

I did want to spell it "B-E-H-R" though, and he would not go for that, so we ended up going with the traditional "B-E-A-R". After we started telling people, we came to realize that we are not the only ones who had chosen that name for our son. I actually talked to at least three people soon after that knew someone that was legally named Bear as well. This made me happy and kind of sad at the same time, as I thought I had come up with something unique when it really turned out that many people before me had all ready thought if it.

Some other names that I like and may use in the future (I know these are all boys names, I am screwed if I ever get pregnant with a girl lol):
  1. Lionel
  2. Hawk
  3. Taz
  4. Gio

Baby's First Bear Collection

Let's face it... I am kinda obsessed with bears. Bear all ready has a teddy bear collection started! My favorite bears would have to be Build-a-Bear bears. I think they are so cute and a pretty good size too. They come in all sorts of colors so you can make a whole collection. And they also can be customized with clothes, accessories, scents, and even sounds!

Bear currently has 5 bears in his collection. He has a mini panda Pillow Pet, a big panda bear, a small bear that says "my first bear" on the chest, a rainbow Build-a-Bear, and another rainbow bear.

This is his rainbow Build-a-Bear he's what started the whole collection.

While shopping on eBay for the rainbow Build-a-Bear I came across this other rainbow bear that I thought sure would look cute with the other bear he has. This bear came with a cute birthday outfit too.

I don't have pictures of the other bears yet or a picture of them all together but I assure you, they are just adorable!

Recently, I was going though a bunch of my old email addresses and I found an email from my sister linking the Build-a-Bear site. I didn't even know they had one of those! Well it makes sense that they would, guess I just never thought to look for one.

So I checked out the site and I found all sorts of bears that I would just LOVE to buy to add to Bear's collection. Here are a few that I like.

This is a holiday special, so chances are I won't be able to get it unless I find it on eBay someday. This bear comes scented like sugar cookies!
17 in. Christmas Cookie Bear - $20

Ok this one is kinda girly lol but I want to teach my son to be open minded when it comes to stuff like this. I don't necessarily want him to play with Barbies but I don't want him to reject something just because it has pink or purple on it.
16 in. Colorful Stars Bear - $20

This is one of my favorites! I just love the way the colored stripes look.
17 in. Patriotic Bear - $20

I really like the feet on this one, I do however wish it came in dark brown instead of black.
16 in. Midnight Teddy - $15

This is another holiday special, I just think he's cute. I think this bear would look addorable in a little holiday themed outfit.
Holiday Hugs Bear - $14

Anther holiday special. This one has the stripes I love too!
17 in. Winter Wonderland Teddy - $20

Got to have this one cuz it's a polar bear! I am not really sure why it's called "Lil" it is 15 in. that isnt that much smaller than the others, some of the others are even 15 in as well and they are not called "lil" either way I still think he's cute!
15 in. Lil' Almond Cub - $10

And last but not least, the Camo Bear! I used to hate camo but as of late I have actually started to love it. I don't like real tree camo but this style is just cute to me for a little boy.
15 in. Camo Bear - $18
I can't wait to expand his collection! :]

There are also lots of cute animals but I just seem to like the bears. All though I do think this is pretty darn cute! IDK if it would be boyish enough for him though lol.
18 in. Gingerbread Hello Kitty - $23

I also really want to get him one of these after he is born. You personalize it to say your baby's name, birthday, weight, and length. How cool is that?!?!
Embroidered Blue Sweet Velvet Teddy - $26

Head on down to the the Build-a-Bear site and check out all the cute stuff they have! I promise you won't regret it.

  10. This bedroom is FAR too small for three people and a dog to be living in (I can not wait to move to my apartment).

3 Weeks Old

Today Bear is three weeks old! I know lots of people say "It goes by SO fast!" but for some reason I think it is going by super slow. I am savoring every moment of it though because I know when I go back to work the days will start flying by.
Sleeping: This week Bear has been having some issues sleeping, the first week home he did quite well and the second even better, but the third week has brought some problems. He prefers to sleep in someones arms, on a pillow, or in anyone bed but his own. It seems like every time we try to put him to sleep in his bed he wakes up crying then goes back to sleep when we pick him up. He also has his days and nights switched he is spending more time awake at night, last night he woke up at 1 am and stayed awake for three hours! :O That is not a huge deal as of now because I am not working, but when I go back to work I can see this being an issue. I really hope we can fix these sleeping problems ASAP.
Personality: His personality is really starting to come out, he now lets us know what he likes, and what he doesn't like. One of his favorite things is being bounced up and down. Our arms get pretty tired after a while but he loves it and will typically scream when we stop. He loves his daddy as well, he follows him with his eyes sometimes as if he wants to be with him. He is not yet smiling other than every now and then and from reflex, but we can tell when he is happy. We are growing more and more attached everyday.
Health: So far his health has seemed pretty good. We have had some problems a few nights ago with constipation and a gas. Other than that his health seems perfect. We go to the doctors tomorrow for another check up.
Growth: Bear is still wearing size NB diapers and a small size NB clothes. He has grown a little bit, I can tell because he is starting to fit into more outfits. There are a lot of outfits however that are size NB that he is still much to small to fit in. His face is filling out as well too, his cheeks are getting more plump and he is developing a second chin. I am sure he weighs more but we won't know his weight until tomorrow at his doctors appointment. He is getting cuter and cuter by the day :]
Eating Habits: I breastfed exclusivity for the first two weeks but it was not working out for me so we started formula at two weeks old. We did both formula and breast milk for about four days and then went to all formula. He didn't seem to mind the switch, he likes both the milk the same. He didn't get any nipple confusion and took the bottle great. When we switched to all formula he did have a little constipation and gas but that didn't surprise me, and he seems to have gotten over it now. At first he was eating three oz every 2-3 hours but now it he is eating 4-5 oz every 2-3 hours! I cant believe my tiny 3 week old can drink 5 oz all ready. I kind of think he may be going through a growth spurt because this change of not getting full off 3 oz came upon us very suddenly.
How me and Anthony are adjusting: Bear and I did form an instant bond when he was born, something I was very worried about. It was not a super huge bond but it was strong and it was there. Anthony is bonding great with Bear I can tell his is absolutely in love with his son. The way Anthony is acting and bonding with Bear is really helping me. He is basically showing me how to express how I feel (even though he is unaware of this) the bonding is coming natural for Anthony, and I am so glad for this, I am able to watch what he does and be more in tune with the way I feel. It has helped us to create a very strong family bond that I believe can not be easily broken at all. For this I am so thankful.

Manchuran Ramen Noodle Soup Picante Chicken Flavor - Review

Just when I thought I had tasted all the Ramen Noodle flavors under the sun... BAM! I find this beauty.

Manchuran Ramen Picante Chicken flavor. I think this is supposed to be a spicy version of the chicken flavor.

It smelled like... every other ramen noodle soup I had before. I am not sure how to describe the smell but I am sure 90% of everyone knows what every other ramen on the planet smells like.

When making this I did notice the flavor packet contained red flecks of dried pepper I think they were chili flakes. I haven't seen this before in the other soups at all.

Once it cooled down, I had my first taste. First I tasted the broth alone and it tasted exactly like the chicken flavor! But after a few minutes I got the spicy after taste. I do say it was extremely weak though.

After eating a bunch of the noodles, I started to feel the burn right in the bottom of my throat and not to mention on my chapped lips as well.

I think honestly that if it was any hotter it might be a little too hot for some people.

All and all this is RAMEN SOUP! it's like all the other flavors bland, boring, quick, easy, and cheap! It is pretty good for ramen soup though I do like the flavor and I would buy it again. I am glad I have a new flavor to add to my list.

Rating (for ramen soup): 7 out of 10

Silent Sunday: Bear Says RAWR!!!!

Baby's First Bath

On January 9th we gave Bear his first bath :] well 2nd technically cuz he had one in the hospital. He was 6 days old.

He really didn't scream as much as I thought he would either. He handled it great.
Maybe I'm bias but I happen to think he is the cutest baby on the planet.
These pictures were actually taken before we started the bath... hints why he isn't crying lol
During the bath. Look at Charlie lol
Afterwards, so clean :]
Daddy clipping his nails for the first time after his bath. (And Charlie making sure it goes well)
